TYPO3 relaunch is more than just "colourful & beautiful"
Anyone who thinks of TYPO3 in a university environment only in terms of new colours and fresh texts overlooks the actual fundamental issues that ultimately determine the success, maintainability and future-proofing of the entire web platform. Our presentation at the TYPO3 University Days 2025 at Saarland University will shed light on this conceptual jungle in an open sparring session of ideas.
Because: When university communications, IT departments and agencies work together on a TYPO3 relaunch, very different requirements, objectives and experiences often come together. This makes it all the more important to discuss the key architectural decisions transparently and at an early stage: in a structured, balanced manner and on an equal footing.
What you can expect in the presentation
We will compare typical decision points in the relaunch process and discuss their advantages and disadvantages - without technical dogma, but with practical experience and a look at real university projects:
- Composer or classic non-composer installation?
- Monolithic website with many areas or separate multi-sites?
- Single-domain or multi-domain setup?
- Content migration via script or manually?
Each of these points has an impact on security, flexibility, maintenance costs and the ability to master future requirements with confidence. Our goal: A practical decision-making aid for all those who want to plan, maintain or relaunch TYPO3 at universities.
Who is the lecture intended for?
Everyone who works with TYPO3 in a university environment is invited. In particular, however, for communication managers, web coordinators and employees from the computer centre who work at the interfaces between strategy, content and technology.
