Captcha alternative to protect against form SPAM without a honeypot?

We were at the TYPO3 University Days in Leipzig and presented our innovative solution to the professional audience of colleges and universities. Are you tired of captchas or SPAM? We'll show you how!

What is form SPAM?

Form SPAM occurs when bots automatically fill out and submit forms on websites to distribute unwanted adverts or malicious links. These bots often use scripts to exploit security vulnerabilities in forms, which leads to a significant increase in unwanted submissions. To counteract this, various protection methods such as captchas or honeypot fields are used.

What are false positives?

False positives occur when legitimate users are falsely recognised as spam. This can happen especially when classic captchas are difficult to access for people with disabilities or when browsers automatically fill in form fields and unintentionally fill in honeypot fields that are used for bot detection. This leads to real users being blocked, which can impair user-friendliness and accessibility.

No forms - the solution?

Some websites do not use forms at all in order to avoid spam and false positives. However, this leads to a poorer user experience, as important interactions such as contact requests or feedback are made more difficult or impossible.

Barrier-free SPAM protection without captchas thanks to brain_protect

In order to block BOTs and ensure user-friendliness for everyone, we have developed a new solution called brain_protect. This provides TYPO3 websites with barrier-free and effective protection against form SPAM - without any captchas. It excludes false positives and makes automated mass SPAM more difficult for BOTs.

Ralf presented brain_protect in an interesting lecture that aroused great interest among the participants. Afterwards, representatives from universities as well as TYPO3 agencies came to our stand. Many wanted to understand in more detail how this solution works and were surprised by its simplicity.

Test brain_protect now for free

Spammers and spam prevention are a constant cat-and-mouse game in which both sides are constantly evolving. This is precisely why we are running the brain_protect private beta. In addition to fine-tuning the tool, we particularly want to recognise and react to so-called edge cases - i.e. rare and unexpected scenarios - at an early stage.

As a participant in the private beta, you will be among the first to be able to use brain_protect, giving you a clear advantage: you will be one step ahead of the spammers and protect your forms with the latest technology even before it is officially available. At the same time, you benefit from an optimised system in which annoying false positives - i.e. incorrectly blocked entries - are a thing of the past.

The private beta runs from 04.11.2024 to 05.05.2025 and you have the exclusive chance to be part of it! As the number of participants is limited. So secure your place on our list now: simply send us an e-mail and become part of this free test phase!
